Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hello, I was diagnosed on 3rd Jan 19 with Type 2. Head was scrambled for a little bit but am trying very hard to eat healthily and have managed to lose some weight. There's such a lot of information out there and some of it seems to contradict the other. Early days for me but I'm learning and hoping to get it under control in time.

Welcome Barney!

I'm just a couple of weeks ahead of you being diagnosed on 21st December. There's a lot to get your head around but some of the experienced people on this forum really helped me to get a grip and focus on what's important. Personally I don't know a fat lot (although its a million times more than I did). I don't post much, but I read this forum everyday and I know you can ask any questions you like here and someone will have the right answers and advice.

When I was diagnosed over two years ago now I was lucky to have been trying to do low carb for decades - and now I have the perfect excuse to ignore all the bad advice I had about carbs.
Why - when it was the established and successful treatment for type two diabetes for so long was it abandoned? It beats me.

Thank you for the reply. I'm trying to keep things simple at the mo and learn as I go on

Thank you for the reply. I have been looking at Low Carb diet but am just trying to eat healthily at the mo and see where that takes me.

I was eating a supposedly healthy low fat diet and reached 19 stone and full blown diabetes in two years of effort - healthy is not something to pursue.
