Hi Guys, just been diagnosed as Type 2 last week still in a bit of shock at the diagnosis and feeling a little bit lost :(

Welcome Ninie im sure one of the more experienced guys will be along shortly to advise you but you have come to the right place its certainly helped me so far

Hi @Ninie ,welcome to the group.

Yes, it can be a quite a shock, I remember at diagnosis being totally shocked, I was assuming the my craving for apple juice was due to low blood glucose rather than the reverse. It's normal to be a little lost at first as they don't give you any information but, on this forum, we live with D so feel free to ask any questions.

Hi @Ninie and welcome to this friendly forum. You are not lost now. We are all here to help you all we can. Have a good look around all the different sections and if you have any questions just ask. We were all newbies once.

Hi Ninie, welcome :D you are not alone, we are all here for you. Read as much as you can, there is so much sound advice and experience here, it takes time to take it in but it’s worth the investment x

this forum was one of the best things I found after my Diagnosis, stiil only 2 1/2 months or so in & already feel like I have a hold on this.
do you have a BG meter? as recommended everywhere in this forum testing seems to be the key to learning what foods have what affect on your BG levels.
I was fortunate enough to have mine issued by the NHS because the hospital put me straight on insulin.

A low carb diet appears to be working for me & my bg levels now average 5.5-6.5 most days. some-days higher, but hey ho no big deal I just try to work out what I ate that caused it & avoid (or reduce) it if possible, You have to accept that sometimes you just have to take the hit.

Welcome to the Forum. More experienced posters will be along to give help I am sure. Agree that testing is the thing to do as you need to know what foods you can tolerate as everyone is different.

Welcome to the forum.🙂
