Hi all, i was diagnosed as being diabetic 2 weeks ago after my optician noticed a big change in my eyesight while waiting for blood results i took very ill and ended up in hospital i had acidosis ( pardon spelling) and very nasty throat infection that i couldnt get rid of, At the moment i am being treated with insulin , doctors felt i needed it straight away because i was so ill but i am waiting on more test result to tell me what type of diabetes i actually have.
I hve to thank my optician and doctors etc for being so vigulant and so helpful.

Welcome to the forum - I too had ketoacidosis at the time of my diagnosis - not nice:(

Have a good look round, there's lots of info here!

Hiya from me too!

I have to say, it seems the treatment you have had so far is absolutely A1. Those tests should establish right away what type you are and your future treatment tailored to suit - which is so often not the case, so it's brill.

Anything we can help you with day to day whilst you are waiting for the results?

When do you have to go back to get them?

Welcome from me too, hope you find the forum helpful, and friendly.🙂

Hi dianeg38 and welcome to the forums. Sorry for the delay in welcoming you.

I expect at the moment you are probably in a state of shock, and have questions coming out of your ears.

Feel free to ask any questions you have and someone will try to help.

Welcome to the forum 🙂

thank you everyone sorry for the late reply, i havent quite got the hang of forum yet but i will get it eventually. I am still in shock a bit but i have to accept the diagnosis as i dont ever want to feel so ill again.

Thank you for the correct spelling of ketoacidosis casper lol i agree with you it really wasnt nice and the fact that i had a severe throat infection to go with it really didnt help matters.

Trophy at the moment i am going to the diabetic nurse on a weekly basis but nurse said result from my blood analysis take 4-6 weeks so until then im still using insulin, again this was due to the fact that i was so ill from the severe throat infection and the ketoacidosis.

cant complain at all about the treatment and advice iv had from the hospital both doctor and nurses.

Thank you all for being so nice. i need to remember to keep coming back now lol xx
