Hi annc, welcome to the forum
🙂 I moved your post to its own thread so more people would spot it.
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis - how were you diagnosed, did you have your suspicions or was it a routine check? The good news is that, now you have been diagnosed there is a lot you can do to raise your chances of remaining off medications and may also lead to you feeling much happier and healthier. Often, people don't realise that they have been below par for some time as the symptoms, especially of Type 2, can be very subtle and people put them down to other things - but once diagnosed and you start managing your blood sugar levels well you realise the contrast - I hope this is something you discover for yourself soon!
I'd recommend getting a copy of Plus, a book I always recommend, as do many others here:
Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker as a great introdiction to Type 2 diabetes, what to expect and how to manage it well. Also, there are some other good sources of information in our our
Useful links thread.
Please ask any questions you may have - nothing is considered 'silly', so if it is bothering or confusing you - ask away!
🙂
