Hi, I've just been diagnosed with T2 diabetes and have just moved back to the UK from Russia... that's another story! We're trying to figure everything out so any advice or pointers would be great... TIA

Hi Danni, welcome to the forum. How are you doing so far? Have you started on any medication (metformin or similar?). Russia sounds interesting... but I should probably stick to diabetes!
I'm also type 2, but I went on a massive diet and lost 40% of my body weight (I was 40kg overweight), and my blood sugars are not in the diabetic range any more. There's more about diabetes remission on the main Diabetes UK site.
Some people tackle their T2 with weight loss, some with diet changes like lower carbohydrate foods or exercise. The secret is finding what works best for you.
I can recommend signing up for the Learning Zone (orange link at the top of the page) to find out more, and reading round the forums. Let us know if you have got any questions you'd like to ask, and someone will have an answer!
Sarah

Welcome to the forum @danni1977

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis :(

Do you have others in your close family who live with T2? And were you getting symptoms that things weren't quite right, or was your diabetes picked up through a routine checkup?

Were you told your HbA1c? This can help you understand how far into the diabetes zone you have reached, and can be an indication of how modest or significant the changes might be which can help you begin to manage your blood glucose levels.

Keep asking away with any questions you have. Nothing will be considered as too obvious or 'silly' 🙂
