Thanks. It looks like it is a single test which can read the previous 3 months - is that correct? Thanks for your help.
There's a longer explanation here:

Dear Soupdragon, How did you learn you had necrotising pancreatitis - that is, what were the tests and symptoms? Thanks.
Hi @Bryonia
I was admitted to hospital with severe pain. Turned out to be severe acute necrotising pancreatitis and I didn't leave hospital for 6 months.
I've been treated with insulin from the start - at the start because of the pancreatitis and then because most of my pancreas is missing/not doing much!

If your daughter's pain levels have increased it sounds as though she needs to be seeing whoever manages her pancreatitis.

As others have mentioned - the HBA1C test gives an average blood glucose level over the last 3 months and your GP can organise that. The test to see how much insulin is being produced is the C peptide test. I had this done at the hospital.

I know that at the beginning they thought that I might not need to inject insulin long term which I assumed to mean that when the inflammation died down the pancreas might start producing insulin again.

I'm under the pancreatic (HPB) team and I would contact them if I needed support.

I hope you are able to contact your daughter's team and that her pain reduces soon.
