Contact your GP or diabetic nurse immediately as it is a well known side affect of metformin, sometimes the slow release version is tolerated better. I hope you were advised to build up the dose slowly so 1 for a couple of weeks then increasing if needed.
The headache is probably because you are dehydrated and your electrolye balance is off, you could try some diorlyte or rehydration sachets.
If you can't speak to your GP then phone 111 for advice.

Hello @SESSYPEE ,

Please contact nhs 111/your GP practice and discuss possibly alternatives and side effects. If you feel really unwell, please go to A and E. Please let us know how you get on?

Hi. Do ask to be swapped to the Slow Release (SR) version of Metformin. It should help a lot with reducing the bowel issues.
