The forum seems a bit unwell at the moment - but basically an ordinary type 2 has only to reduce carbohydrate in order to reverse the increasing Hba1c numbers and go back to more normal blood glucose levels.

For me.. fairly effortless weight loss, T2 into remission, the end of sleep apnea and acid reflux came about pretty quickly when I cut almost all carbohydrates out of my diet.
7 years later weight loss maintained and still in remission from the things listed above.
No drugs involved.

Weight loss did it for me.
I went from morbidly obese to within a normal range on a low fat diet, finished off with a very low calorie shake based Newcastle diet.
I lost 5 stone overall.

Some do decide on diet control for life, bit it would have been far too restrictive for me.

Welcome to the forum @NikkiG51

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Diabetes is a serious condition, but it’s also one that can usually be managed well with a few changes and adaptations - it’s something that you can learn to live well with, and it shouldn’t stop you doing things you enjoy.

Try not to be disheartened about your diagnosis, many people on the forum later reflect that their diagnosis became a kind of catalyst which prompted them to make positive changes towards a healthier and more active life. Perhaps changes that they had been intending to make for years.

Have you been given the result of your HbA1c? This will be a number above 47mmol/mol, and can help you understand where you are starting from and how significant the changes you could make might need to be.

Yes, I went low carb and haven't had heartburn at all since. Used to get it a lot, as well.
