There’s no point me discussing insulin when I don't use it or any medication. I can’t say what it feels like or it’s effects as I don't feel it myself. It’s a nice thought but I’d rather know what I’m talking about before I gave advice.when and if I need to use medication I will then be able to discuss it. I only replied to let them know that someone was here and to reassure people that were listening . In future I w
not say hello to any one!
No need for that. I appreciate all the replies. You have ALL made this past week feel less lonely

*And for making me feel less alone in this new normality, I’m very grateful to you all. We all have stories to tell, someone else’s experience whether I can relate or not is worth it’s weight in gold with this diagnosis

I wasn’t expecting you to @jeanettem1 🙂 I was explaining why I couldn’t give a ‘full answer’ and was careful in my comments (because I didn’t know the insulin regime).

Why wouldn’t you say hello? I say hello to Type 2s 🙂

Wee update…
So guys it happened I got down to mid to low teens! Even managed an 8.2 this morning. Levemir has been adjusted and feeling much better, a chat with my team definitely helped. BG is still adjusting and that’s a trip but slow and steady is winning the race. Had a small change of what I’m eating etc too, more ‘veggie/lower carb’ meals. Today I have more energy and feeling more human, less zombie. Thanks for the support 🙂 it’s helped loads! Still waking drenched but hoping when I get the libre on Friday that will give some insight to during the night/sore legs/feet when sugars are high. Buzzing for the libre now, my fingers feel numb. Meter fell into the mop bucket but have a new one just annoying I can’t mind all the numbers from today, nevermind, tomorrow is a new day and all that jazz. Few niggles at stomach injection sights but sure that will pass too.
Hope you’re all well 🙂

Good excuse not to wash the kitchen floor in future @Daisycoo 😉 I’m glad you’re feeling a bit happier.🙂

Thanks for the update. So pleased your levels are coming down a bit and you are feeling better. Really hope you get Libre soon but Abbott are doing a free trial if you want to give it a go sooner rather than later.... assuming you have an appropriate phone to read it with. If you want more info check out their website.

As far as I’m aware it’ll be through NHS and I’ll get it on Friday during my appointment. I’ll still have a nosy on the site though, thanks

It is well worth doing the Libre academy on the website so you understand more about how it works, it's limitations and when to double check it with finger pricks etc. It can be a huge temptation to react to the information it gives you without taking into consideration these differences/limitations. So for instance when you are hypo it takes twice as long to show your levels have recovered and a scan 15 mins after you have taken your Hypo treatment will usually show your levels have dropped lower rather than come up, so unless you do a finger prick to check, it is tempting to have more hypo treatment when you don't actually need it and then you end up on a roller coaster of lows and highs. It can also show that you are low if you lie on it in your sleep. This is called a compression low and again may lead you to take hypo treatment when you don't need it or decrease your basal insulin when it is not necessary, so important to double check with a finger prick.
Anyway, definitely go to the Abbott website and do some homework in advance of getting it. It was a prerequisite of me getting it on prescription to have complete the webinars even though I had been using it self funded for several months.

Hi Daisycoo, hope you’re starting to feel a bit better now, it’s a horrible shock when you’re first diagnosed, I‘m 7 years in now (wow can’t believe it’s been that long) and things are a lot easier. It took me about 12 months to fully recover but with every passing day I felt more and more human. You mentioned night sweats, I had that a lot in the first few months because my blood sugar was so high for so long my body was quite taken aback by more normal blood sugar. So hopefully that will pass soon, but you’ll probably find the libre quite useful for working out what’s going on overnight. I’ve just been prescribed the libre 2 because I’m having some issues with control at the moment and I’m loving it 🙂 . Hope things continue to get better every day, this forum is marvellous support it was an absolute lifeline for me. I tend to lurk a bit more these days, but can’t stress enough how useful it is to talk to people who understand.

It’s lovely to see you posting again KC, and thanks for sharing your encouraging story.
