Hi all,

Newly diagnosed here, currently treated at Type 2 to but they say it’s possible Type 1 TBC.

Had a 6.1 HBA1C a year ago, new test results not through yet but diagnosed based on polyuria any high blood glucose. 10-16mmol rarely lower even after fasting. Also keytones and high glucose in pee.

One thing I’m really struggling with is knowing how to eat. One of my other symptoms was a 7 kg weight loss over the last 6 months so I need to up calories.

I’ve completely cut out processed carbs which is fine, but my instinct when sugar levels are high is to not eat at all, but I know this is probably wrong.

Any tips? It’s all quite confusing.

Jx

Hi sudsandsoda, welcome to the forum. Hopefully, you will soon know exactly what you are dealing with.

Diet is one of the most talked about topics on the forum. When all is said and done, it’s about experimenting to find what works for you. Here are some links which I hope you will find useful. Good luck.

Hi and welcome, a completely agree with Bronco, have a good read of the posts recommended and then ask any questions you might have :D

Thanks both.

I’ve quickly realised that everyone is very different!

I’ve done a lot of reading, and things are starting to make a little more sense - kinda!

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint” has come up a few times - and I think I had started sprinting to find solutions.

Thanks again,
Jx.

Hi and welcome, we are all on the same road but drive different cars, what foods suit one doesn’t necessarily suit another so testing is important. We also all know the difficulties of changing our diet and the frustration that sometimes goes with it. Please ask any questions at all as we are all happy to try and help.

Welcome @sudsandsoda
I am glad you have found this forum. There is plenty of help available.
Bronco Billy has given you some useful links with plenty of reading to do.
Come back with absolutely any questions that you have.
As well as posting my questions, I learn so much from responses to questions others ask.

If you are that way inclined you can look up the NICE guidelines on diabetes diagnosis and management. If nothing else, it will tell you what is going on in the system to determine what type you are and how best to treat you.
