I am diagnosed diabetics with 6hb1ac 2weeks back and waiting for nurse appointment. I started monitoring sugar level along with diet change and exercise , my fasting sugar is always 5.5 irrespective of low carb diet before bed .

How can I reduced fasting sugar to 4’s?

Hi @Arpitha welcome to the forum 5.5 is a really good fasting figure. If you are doing a low carb diet and exercising just stick at if your readings will improve on there own. Weight loss is very important to improving our control especially in type 2 I’ve learnt. So any and all is good.

Thank you, Am 36 and mother of 3year . My worry is I won’t be healthy to watch her grow. Am getting into depression and couldn’t sleep most night .. sorry for ranting

Never be sorry I have 2 boys and am pretty newly diagnosed 22nd April. It’s not easy and you are going to have bad days but it does get easier and type 2 I perfectly manageable with the right support and information. You are definitely in the right place for both. So rant away ask as many questions as you need we are here to help if we can.

Hi @Arpitha . Welcome to the forum.
You’re not ranting you’re worried which is perfect natural. I wish to reassure you that with the right info and a bit of work Diabetes is a condition that can be managed well.

A fasting reading of 5.5 is very good, obviously the changes you have made are working well .it isn’t a case of the lower the level the better. Glucose is the fuel our body runs on esp our brain.

Feel free to ask any questions you have @bout diabetes, we’ll do our best to help

How did you come to be diagnosed.

Hi & welcome to the forum. 5.5 is a perfectly normal reading, even for non diabetics. It's highly unlikely you will wake in the 4's (it can happen but not common) & nothing to worry about either. You are doing well.🙂

Thank you all... This came up in annual diabetics test following my gestational diabetes . I was having loads of cake and parties for last 6m , would that have increased my h1bac ? Sorry if this is stupid question . Am trying to understand where I went wrong.

By 6m, do you mean the last 6 months? If so, yes, that would've affected you HbA1c quite a lot.
