Hi, I was disagnosed in Dec 09 with type II, I was in denial for several months and depressed after that. Have changed my diet dramatically, I still enjoy cooking and good food I just have less of the things I liked before. Well controlled blood sugars, losing weight and no medication yet.

My philosophy now, everything in moderation, but i still feel at times that I am not doing enough, and sometimes cannot be bothered. Need to talk to people who know that feeling from being diagnosed with a progressive illness

Hi Practan,

I'm a non-insulin-dependent Type 2 myself of nearly ten years.

You sound to be doing just fine. It took many of us on this forum much longer to get onto the right track.

Best wishes - John

Hi pracatan. Welcome.

Yep. Know the feeling well. Felt it on and off over the years but now takign things very seriously in the hope of staying fit and well for a good few years to come.

Well done for getting it together at least for now. The longer you can do it for, the more of a habit it becomes and soon it's a lifestyle.

Hi guys,

i'm new to the forum and i'm newly diagnosed (coming into week 2) as a type 2 diabetic. I too sometimes still can't believe it and am finding it hard to adapt and change my diet. I have been cutting down anyway to loose weight but just can't get my head round it all and knowing that you have to watch everything you put in your mouth for the rest of your life. How long did it take you guys to get into a steady pattern and due to me being on metformin will this still help control and lower my blood sugars although I may still be eating things I shouldn't or just not got into a routine? As i'm worried if it doesn't than I may have to go on to insulin but surely they wouldn't make that decision so soon they'd give me the chance to change my ways - am I worrying over nothing and were you all the same?? So for so many questions just want to feel like i'm not the only one.
