Hi @Lepow82 🙂 Sorry to hear about your son’s diagnosis. It is a lot to get used to for anyone, particularly a child. It does get easier though.
There are other parents of Type 1 children here who’re very helpful and supportive, and plenty of people who can give advice.
What insulins is your son taking? How are his blood sugars?
Thank youHello @Lepow82 and welcome to the forum.
It is a difficult time for you and your son, and I hope that the forum will give you some help and support.
I will tag @LucyDUK and @Thebearcametoo who are both parents of diabetic children to ensure that they see your message.
Alice got a Rufus bear too, despite being 16. She's grown quite attached to himAwww hope she’s ok at 16 it’s a tricky time too ! The hospital gave him a diabetic teddy called rufus and a story book he comes with which helped massively !! He just struggles with the change a bit but to be expected ... and deff a tricky time but thanks for being so supportive everyone xx
As I was diagnosed at 4 1/2 do you think I can have a bear as well even though it's 55 years later ?Alice got a Rufus bear too, despite being 16. She's grown quite attached to him
We can ask lol my little man says it’s his flash pen which makes him a superheroAs I was diagnosed at 4 1/2 do you think I can have a bear as well even though it's 55 years later ?😎
@Lepow82 your little lad will adapt very well and you will be surprised how well he does do. Even after all this time I can still remember my diagnoses and can not remember life before diabetes.
Take one day at a time and ask all the questions you need to ask. As a youngster I was told my insulin was magic medicine to keep me well.
He's 100% correct 😎We can ask lol my little man says it’s his flash pen which makes him a superhero
