Hello, and thank you for accepting me to the group.
I have newly been diagnosedwith type2 .need support on what i can eat and how much please. Look forward to hearing from you all 🙂

Helllo, welcome to the forum.
The amount of carbs to eat in a day, and at what time varies.
I eat most of my carbs late in the day, only around 1/4 of the total at breakfast, as I seem to be more resistant at that time.
Do you have a blood glucose meter?

Welcome to the forum
What you can or can't do can be a very personal thing as everybody is different a one size fits all menu is difficult but following a number of principals then blood glucose management can be achieved. How much work you need to do depend on what your HbA1C is, what medications you may have been prescribed and if you need to lose weight. Taking time to make adjustments can be kinder on your body.
Many find a low carbohydrate approach is successful for both reducing blood glucose and losing weight if you need to. Low carb is suggested as being less than 130g per day TOTAL carbs not just sugar as it is all carbs that convert to glucose. This link may help you with making some changes to your dietary regime. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
Some people find a low calorie or shakes-based regime can give then a kick start but whatever you choose has to be enjoyable otherwise it will not be sustainable long term.

If you could give a bit more information about your diagnosis, your HbA1C and any meds then people can make appropriate suggestions. Some examples of what you have for meals will help to see where some savings in carbs can be made.

Many find keeping a food diary of everything they eat and drink with an estimate of the total carbs not just sugar will be helpful and give you a starting point.
Investing in some digital scales so you can weigh portions as portion control is important. The book or app Carbs and Cals is a useful resource for giving the carb value for lots of foods and portions sizes so helps make better choices.
Remember it is total carbs you need to look for in the nutritional information on packets or on websites.

Please do come back with any questions.

Hi @julia333 and welcome to the forum 🙂

You may find the thread here on the forum called food/carb + queries for some food ideas

We also have some information on our website that you may find useful. We have a section dedicated to eating with diabetes, if you would like to check it out, the link is here

Welcome to the forum @julia333

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis :(

Did this come out of the blue? Or is it something that has been building up for a while?

Were you told the result of your HbA1c check? This will be a number above 47mmol/L, but many forum members have started much higher, even into 3 figures. This can give you an idea of how significants the adjustments you might need to consider are likely to be.

As @Charlotte DUK says, the main Diabetes UK website has lots of helpful resources to help you find a way of eating that suits your tastebuds, your pocket, and your blood glucose levels 🙂

There are some general pointers in this free downloadable e-book

And many forum members have found this selection of meal plans helpful (with a variety of different apporaches that can suit different people and their individual diabetes)
