A new DUK/NIHR-funded T2D remission trial/project:

Project summary

Weight loss can lead to remission of type 2 diabetes but losing weight can be difficult. Professor Jebb aims to create a new NHS support service for people newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and living with overweight or obesity, so they can try out different weight loss programmes and find the one that’s right for them. This could make all the difference in giving more people the chance to go into remission.

Great overview thread from Nicola Guess of KCL etc who is involved with the project:

Our sedentary way of life has lead to this and it's all by design. Humans are coming closer and closer to being made redundant. We don't even have to make the effort to lift an arm to close the boot of a car now its automated. More and more of us now sit at home, shop at home, have takeaways delivered to our home, work at home, watch the latest movies at home, have meetings at home, we can even see the world at home via google maps. If you live in an apartment, you could well be sat in it for days or weeks without even leaving your apartment.

We don't even have the choice anymore to do otherwise. You can't even chat to anyone at a till as they are going self service. Most people email rather than meet people. Yet they want to offer us informed choice on ways to lose weight.
