Sorry to hear about your vision problems. The reason why periferal vision, as well as central, is so important when driving is that if a patch of no sight is bigger than the image of a cyclist or motorcyclist, you might move into their path. I'm particularly aware of this risk, as at different times, I cycle or drive a car and used to drive a tractor and trailer around a country park, where being able to see walkers and dogs on narrow trails was also important to avoid accidents.
