Welcome Marty - good to hear from another long term T1 who dreads the test too.🙂

Hi Marty really nice to hear from you.I am originally from south yorkshire, now in Scotland. I have been type 1 for 36 years , registered blind and lost an eye due to retinopathy. I am now waiting to go on tx list for kidney/pancreas. I also am on Lantus and Humalog and dread eye clinic apts. Have onyl had a field of vision once and resultd for me pretty bad as would be expected with my limited vision in one eye and artificial eye in other Good luck with your visit and test and stay in touch TinTin 🙂

Hello Marty and welcome.

i'm sorry to hear about your complications. I've been doing diabetes for 36 years and know the pressure the visual fields test puts on you. Have you had laser treatment in your good eye as perhaps they are checking for any loss of peripheral vision? I think I was given a couple of attempts at the fields test but unfortunately I couldn't pass it, not surprising as I couldn't see number plates or colours either! However there are encouraging stories out there about people keeping or regaining their licences so very good luck with the test.

Welcome to the forum Marty12 🙂

Hiya, Marty. Hope the eye test went well.🙂

hi thanks to every one
yes had laser over 10 years ago
in both eyes but only one eye is bad (but not as bad as others so carnt complane )
had test this morn
i got 103 out of 120 on second go 104 out of 120
mostly round outer edges of both eyes 2 point rgt eye rest in left
but wouldent tell me if a fail or not
there dosent seem to be any misses in the centre
and no grouping in rght eye at all
so now at the mercy of dvla
😱

I hope you get the right result marty 🙂 I'm not a driver so don't really understand these tests.

Welcome to the forum, marty12.

Sorry to hear about your vision problems. The reason why periferal vision, as well as central, is so important when driving is that if a patch of no sight is bigger than the image of a cyclist or motorcyclist, you might move into their path. I'm particularly aware of this risk, as at different times, I cycle or drive a car and used to drive a tractor and trailer around a country park, where being able to see walkers and dogs on narrow trails was also important to avoid accidents.

your not wrong ive driven the katest agri john dear tractors an trailors for a farmer friend and also have am/c licence used to be a moter bike couriuor
many moons ago
and no i dont under stand the test results ether
first one ive had to do in 30 years of driving
