hi just wanted to pop in an say ello, i am 34 and i am type 2 and my 11yr old is type 1. i am on a new injection you take once a week and its bought my levels to normal. my daughter is a carb counter and she is having a terriable time. i just wanted to talk to some one who is the same as us because i feel so lonely with it all xx

Hi tiggerpoo, welcome to the forum 🙂 No need to feel lonely any more! There are lots of people here who will do their best to help and support you - many are either in your situation or have been there or grown up through their childhood years. How long has she been diagnosed? If you don't already have a copy, I would recommend Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas as an excellent guide to your daughter's Type 1. There are lots of other suggestions in our Useful links thread, so do have a browse!

How are things with you?

Hi Tigger, welcome to the forum 🙂

hi northerner, my daughter has been diagnosed since she was 9 she is now 11 but she also has a mickey button for her bowl. she gets high sugars all the time an she is constantly gets infections in were her button is because its a constant open wound. its just so upsetting to see my little girl so poorly. she went from being a well normal child to a child who cant do anything because she is so poorly all the time, also she is always so tired because of the high sugars. ya know when ua feel like pulling you hair out lol xx

What insulin regime is she on? Has she been considered for a pump? It might help give her better control.

hello tiggerpoo
Just wanted to say welcome really, and very sorry that your daughter has so much to put up with. I hope there is a good team looking after her. I understand there is a diabetic team at great ormond street who specialise in children with multiple conditions - I'd have thought your daughter would qualify to see them, even if it was a one-off consultation to give you a bit of a steer?
Best wishes
Catherine
