Hi Firefly60, welcome to the forum, lots of lovely people here to chat to and ask any questions.
No doubt you have had lots of ups and downs during your 20 years especially when other medical conditions get involved.
I’m also Type 1.
Hope you are well and staying safe in our present strange times.

Just wanted to say hi from a fellow Scot

Welcome to the forum Firefly.

Hi and welcome from me too.

Which insulins do you have and are you on MDI or a pump? Do you have Freestyle Libre? The forum is great for tips on how to better manage your diabetes and learning about new tech that is available as well as just general support. Hope you find it as beneficial as I have over the past year and a half.

Welcome to the forum @firefly60

How have you found things over the years?

Which insulin(s) do you use? Are you on pens or a pump?

Any other gadgets, like sensors or bolus-calculating meters that you find helpful?

Have you been on a course like DAFNE or a local equivalent?

At the moment I carb count using my accu-chek Aviva expert and use tresiba in the morning
I have been on a Dafne course
My problem is my lovely diabetic nurse has told me they are going to stop producing my Aviva expert and there is no other replacement meter
Along with all my health issues I am getting quite anxious .she did mention the abbot libra to me

Hi, welcome to the forum I’m type 1 diabetic and have been for 47 years.

Yes it was a shame about the Expert - I really liked mine.

There are other BG meters with inbuilt bolus calculators which would do a similar job, including the Freestyle Insulinx and the BG meter handset for the Freestyle Libre. It isn't quite the same bolus calculator that you've used before, but might be a useful replacement. The Libre also gives you the option of using flash glucose sensors to see what's happening 'between the dots', which might be very helpful.

🙂
