Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I have had type 2 since December 2018 so still trying to sort myself out. Thought I would try this so hello everyone

Hello @PatchGFC
Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it useful.
If you have a browse around the various sections, you will find that there are a wide variety of things under discussion, and some items of general interest in the 'pinned' sections at the top.

Are there any particular things you would like more information on or to ask about?
You say you are trying to 'sort yourself out', so if you are happy to tell us a bit more about your Diabetes e.g what are your blood glucose reading, do you have any particular symptoms that are troubling you, or anything else - we will try to give you some answers or links to information that may be of help.

Hi PatchGFC and welcome to the forum.

There are a lot of people here who are experts in their own diabetes. We can't give medical advice, but can answer questions about what works for us.

Hello @PatchGFC welcome to the forum. 🙂

Hi thanks they were at 16 but now I'm on medication it's now between 9-12. I find it hard what to eat and drink. I also have charcot foot

Have you been told or asked to reduce the amount of carbohydrate you eat?

NO before you think, we're not a load of internet nutters! Carb is the one and only thing every single person's body with diabetes on the planet, can't cope with properly, so each person has to find out for him/her self, how much and which kinds of it their own body CAN cope with - and every one of our tolerances will be different!

Ok so what are the best things to keep away from as much as possible. I must sound really thick

First thing that is almost 100% carb is sugar. Second thing with a helluva lot is starch - flour (hence anything with flour in it eg bread, pastry, cake, gravy powder and granules) rice (pudding and the sort with curries, chinese food etc) spuds, some veg (root veg esp parsnips being the worst) and some fruit (eg oranges, mangoes, pineapple, ripe pears, peaches/nectarines, cherries)

However now you've just gone aaargghh, nothing left to eat! Nobody suggests you just stop eating all of it and in fact we'd all advise you not to! You'd most likely feel awful if you did. No - cut it down, bit by bit as necessary. If having one less spud isn't enough to make a difference, try 2 less, etc. following he method suggested below
