Welcome, you have come to the right place for information. Have you had some blood tests? If so your doctor is probably reacting to something called your HBA1C. In simple terms, if that is above 48 you are officially diabetic. Below that you are not. For those that are a bit below 48 the category of pre diabetes has been invented. Some think it is a good thing, some think it isn't because not everybody who is pre-diabetic goes on to become fully diabetic. Nevertheless, doing something to lower your HBA1C to stop it going over the limit can only be a good thing. If that involves losing a bit of weight then that will have other benefits.
You will get lots of ideas, thoughts and opinions and you will need to get a plan together which suits you. Read around the forum and you will find lots of people in your position and the input they have been given. Just ask any questions you have, there is a lot of help available.
Hello and welcome to the forum. As above there is lots of good advice here and you can ask any questions you want to, nothing too big or too small. Most of us go low carb to help with our glucose levels and this in turn leads to weight loss. If you can do anything to prevent becoming fully diabetic then go for it. Lowering your intake of potatoes, rice, pasta and bread etc will really help you but as Docb says have a look around the site and do what is best for you. Good luck with it all.
