Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi , was just diagnosed on Thursday so had a week from hell, I only went to doctors with a headache and blurred vision and was sent to hospital With a blood suger of 23.9, had no other symptoms. So now I'm type 2 diabetic. Have been put on Gliclazide 40mg for three weeks
Metformin 500mg 1 a day for 7 days then 2 a day. Checking blood 6 times a day for three weeks but readings are all over the place can be anything from 6 to 23. Today is my best day so far so maybe medicine starting to work
Before breakfast 9.9 - 2hrs after 11.6
Before lunch 10.9 - 2hrs after 8.1
Before evening meal 6.0 - 2hrs after 10.6
After lunch started to feel strange light headed and feeling sick with a really bad headache again, and when I checked before my tea it was the lowest ever of 6 so was wondering if that what's making me feel ill. I Must say it's only day 6 and I'm so fed up of feeling ill and just want it to go away, don't want it anymore:(:(

Welcome Michelle. I like the bit about "don't want it anymore" :D It does get easier the more you learn.😉

Welcome, Michelle 🙂

Yes, the rapid drop in blood sugar is likely to be why you felt ill this afternoon - it's better for you when readings go down gradually than when they plummet. It sounds like you are going in the right direction generally though, and you will feel a lot better when all your readings are around 6 🙂
