Relationship to Diabetes
Hi,
Hope you don't mind me joining your FORUM. I've not been diagnosed with T2 diabetes but do have another chronic long-term condition. I am 4st overweight and in need of some encouragement!
I've signed up for the online NHS 12 weight loss program and this site for some healthy eating plans.

Hi Mammalouisa, welcome to the forum 🙂 Good luck with your weight loss program! I'd suggest having a browse through our Food and recipes section for ideas. People with diabetes chiefly have to pay attention to the amount of carbohydrate they consume, so are careful about things like potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, as well as sugary things and things made with flour. Often, people find that keeping carb consumption low can actually help with their weight loss - there is a lot of evidence coming out these days that the 'low fat' regimes that have been suggested for the past 30 years may actually be bad advice, and really they should have been telling people to be careful about carbs!

Please feel free to ask any questions you have and we will try to help. Do you have any special dietary requirements related to your long-term condition?
