Relationship to Diabetes
Good evening everyone. I hope you are well. I have joined the forum tonight in the hope of getting some advice. 😛

I got the usual blood test for diabetes in April & it came back as normal.

I went to the GP 2 weeks ago & she done the prick test on my finger which came back as 12.4. She said this was high & asked what I had eaten that morning which was yoghurt & a piece of fruit.

I am going back in a couple of weeks time to get the HBAC1 test, over 6 weeks my blood will be monitored to see what it does.

I have symptoms of what I can describe as a dip, when I feel tired, crave sugar & juice. Once eaten / drank I am much more alive!

I had a strange episode in the car a few months ago. My husband thought I was in shock as I had those symptoms.

Do you think that based on this I have diabetes?

I watch what I eat as I suffer from IBS. No pasta/bread/rice etc for me!

Thanks for reading x

Hi Mrs. Lini,

Welcome to the group, certainly sounds like it, though only the Dr. will be able to tell.

In the meantime, looks like your IBS has sorted some of the culprits for carbs, but watch fruit & juices as they can also be high in carbs along with starchy root vegetables like potatoes.

Thanks Martin. I will just have to wait & see what my results are in the next 2 months.

I'd get at test meter & start recording your fasting blood glucose & blood glucose before & 2 hours after a meal to see what your levels are & what spikes your BG.

Affordable meter that many people on this board recommend is the SD Codefree from Amazon

Welcome
