Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi this is my first post to say hello.I have been T2 for 8 years.and have been on 1000SR metformin for about 3 years.I have 6 monthly blood tests since March 2014 down from 56.3 to September 2015 49.7 I used lancet and testing strips at first , but found a balanced diet and checking weight is a better way for me to deal with type 2.☺

Hi Frank, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sounds like you are doing pretty well with things - well done! 🙂 When you were using the strips did you discover that some things you thought were OK for you actually raised your levels a lot? Most people are surprised at how their individual tolerances can vary and things that are often described as 'healthy' are best avoided. Are you able to get regular exercise also? Please ask any questions you may have or join in wherever you wish 🙂

Hi and welcome to the forum Frank.

Testing in the beginning of your diabetic journey is a god send to finding out what your body tolerates and what to avoid like the plague. I do agree that eventually it becomes an unnecessary for every meal for a type 2 and just keeping an eye on things becomes more the norm.

Welcome, frank albert, and well done! Sounds like you've got things sorted 🙂

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You seem to be doing really well and obviously the foods you now eat (or the ones you don't eat now) have made a good difference to you BG levels. 🙂
