Hi i'm new too. I've been diet controlled for 3 years, then two weeks ago put on metformin 500 1 tab a day, had very adverse reaction so put on Gliclazide 40 once a day a week ago. I'm finding the whole thing difficult and confusing plus dealing with dropped blood sugars, having had 2 hypos in a week. I'm eating very regularly. Diabetic nurse keeps saying I will prob have to change to another drug and to monitor bloods 6 x a day until tomorrow. Gp supposed to be phoning me today. I don't really want to change to another drug so near Christmas. I have cereal for breakfast, snack, 2 slices bread sandwich at lunch, snack, main meal with lots of veg, 1 or 2 small pieces of potatoe and small amount meat, snack before bed. Does anyone think I should increase my food at lunch and have more carbs for evening meal? I'm very confused as I had previously had tried to keep carbs low. Also told not to have fruit as a snack, add it onto a meal? Any advice welcome, although I know you are not medical. Many thanks H.
