Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I'm new here, but not new to diabetes. Have had T2 for about 8 years, and been on insulin for nearly 5 years. I've just started on Byetta, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I've started 10mcg today as I was still giving a full dose of insulin on 5mcg. Anyone else had similar results?

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum🙂 Can't help with the Byetta I'm afraid as I have no experience of it but I think one or two members have - might be worth posting a message on the General messageboard about it.

Ho Sue welcome to the forum i know of byetta as i have looked into it as i has been suggested to me i go on it by DSN but GP wants to hang fire and try the metformin for longer, i think the forum member THEDAME is on it but i dont think she has been on for abit x

Hi Sue just wanted to welcome you to the forum, unfortunately can't give you any advice though as I have type 1 hope you get the advice you need.

Hi Sue🙂

So sorry I missed your post - I have only just got back onto here - I decided to give my PC an upgrade a few weeks back and have just go myself back into the swing of things!

I note that you had only been on Byetta for a few weeks when you posted - how are things going now that you have been on the 10mcg pen for a while? I hope you have noticed some of the benefits and few of the side effects!

I will check back in a day or so to see if you have posted in case you want to compare notes. In the meantime, just to update you, I have now started on my 5th pen and my hba1c showed a drop from 10.2 to 7.2 when I was checked after 3 months on Byetta. The drastic loss of appetite I felt at first wore off to a large extent- as did the sickness, which is probably no coincidence. I still struggle to lose weight but it is going the right way for the first time in years - and my DSN is really pleased with the sugar levels- I feel quite chuffed too😉

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum.
