i think she is shutting her eyes to the condition and letting it dictate her life, anyone know of any groups in london where i can get face to face advice?
david

hi david just wanted to welcome you , i think theres a few in london on here who can help abit more then me x just wanted to welcome you

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum!

I am south London and I know that I enquired through Diabetes UK what my nearest support group was and it came out as Wimbledon and Westminster, I know also there are some things in Southwark, but it wasnt listed through. I am a habitual creature and cant tell you about anything north of the river as I never go there!

Have you already tried the Diabetes UK website?

There are a god few people on here form London so I expect someone can tell you something. Also your mums DSN or her clinic should know of places local to you guys (I find my DSN responds quicker to an email than to a voicemail, perhaps try and drop her/him an email through the hospital website?).

Good luck, Id be interested to know how you get on! BIG WELCOME TOO!

Lou x

Hi,

You will be able to find details of Diabetes UK Support Groups in your area by putting your postcode into the box on this link on the Diabetes UK website:

Good luck - John

I like your name!! :D

About groups there is defo one in Wimbledon it was my closest until I moved but I never went! But as others said have a goose on the internet.

Haha, I was told about the Wimbledon one too. (I feel the urge to say "other support groups are available" in a fast voice! 😛 )

Hope you manage to find something to help your mum, David.

xx

thanks for the welcome guys, my name on here "the legal burglar" is a reference to my job as a locksmith,
i willl check to see where the nearest support group is to my mums address, i was told of one in lewisham but havent followed it up as yet,
im looking for advice on how to be more assertive with her without sounding condascending or upsetting her, she was getting on fine with her regime but i have never been 100% with what the clinic says.

I guessed you were a locksmith!

Regarding your mum, hope you get all the advice you need, but is it diabetic advice or more dealing with an elderly parent, maybe look for other sources of advise too, not sure what, maybe talk to friends??

Good luck
