Hi Chelsea, welcome to the forum
🙂 Don't worry, it's perfectly natural to feel like you do - this is a big thing that has happened to you and it can be quite overwhelming. It's very difficult for people to understand that if it hasn't happened to them - you may be doing well in terms of your blood sugars and dealing with the tests and injections, but there is bound to be an effect on how you feel about things and your future.
Just take each day at a time and spend those few minutes each day where you need to think about taking care of your diabetes, try not to let it dominate your life - you control it, it does not control you!. What insulin regime are you on? If you'd like a really good book all about Type 1, I would highly recommend getting a copy of
Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young People by Ragnar Hanas. It's a very well-written book covering all aspects of Type 1. You may be able to get a copy from your library. Also, you might be interested in getting a
support and information pack for people with a recent diagnosis of type 1 diabetes from JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) - all free!
There's a lot of support here from people who know exactly what you are going through, so please feel free to ask us any questions you may have, or just let off steam, we would love to hear from you
🙂 Take care, and I hope to hear more from you soon.
