Hello everybody. This is my first vist, so just to introduce myself. I've had type 2 diabetes for 8 years now. It is controlled by taking metformin (3 x 850 mg) and gliclazide (2 80mg) and I have just started injecting with Victoza. My blood levels were just getting higher and higher but Victoza seem to be bringing it down, slowly, but coming down all the same. I'm an assistant manager for a removals company and spend most of my day behind a desk. Reading some of the other posts I seem to be really lucky in having a doctors practice which is brilliant. They are always there for me and my diabetic team is just as good. It's good to have somewhere where there are like minded people who really understand what diabetes is all about and I'm looking forward to getting to know people on the boards.

Hi Simplysmitten, welcome to the forum 🙂 Great to hear that you have a good team behind you! They're not all bad - mine are excellent too - it's just that, like anything, I think the bad ones get more column inches!

Good to hear that the Victoza is working well for you. We have a couple of other members who have had some success with it, and also Byetta.

Hello Simplysmitten and welcome to the forums. I too have been Type 2 for 8 years. In fact it's the anniversary of my diagnosis today. Like you I started on Metformin and about 18 months ago Gliclazide was added. I started on Byetta injections in April and my levels are now brilliant. Haven't lost any weight on it though. Ah well, can't have everything. My care has been a bit hit and miss with a Practice Nurse who means well but has her hands tied by the GP's.
