I have had type 2 diabetes for about 6 years now and have recently had a change to my meds. Previously GP practice had nurse practice really who specialised in dealing with diabetic patients. However she left at end of last year and GP now dealing with diabetic patients sadly you get the feeling that he has little interest. So now I am trying to take extra care.

That's frustrating; have you asked if the nurse will be replaced, or if there's a GP with a special interest in diabetes at your surgery? How are you finding the new meds? What are they?

It’s your diabetes and your job to manage it not the doctor or nurses, so taking care of it yourself is best anyway

Did they give you an explanation for the change in medication, others not working resulting in no improvement in HbA1C or were you unable to tolerate them because of side effects.
Have you been given much guidance on diet as that is something where there is plenty of information here but what would be suitable will depend on what your new meds are.
