Hi, I was diagnosed with T2 approximately 3 weeks ago. I am overweight and consequently I’m not as active as I used to be!

Hi - sorry you've had to join us. Can you give us some details about your diagnosis, eg your HbA1c, any meds you've been put on, what advice you've been given about diet (my guess is not much) and whether you have much weight to lose? Sorry if that sounds intrusive but knowing your circumstances enables us to tailor advice to your particular needs. In the meantime, welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum @Fenster

Sorry to hear you’ve been diagnosed with T2.

Diabetes is a serious condition, but it’s also one that can usually be managed well with a few changes and adaptations - it’s something that you can learn to live well with, and it shouldn’t stop you doing things you enjoy. Try not to be disheartened about your diagnosis, many people on the forum later reflect that their diagnosis became a catalyst which prompted them to make positive changes towards a healthier and more active life. Perhaps changes that they had been intending to make for years.

If you would like a good overview of T2 diabetes, to add to the knowledge you’ve already picked up, you might want to register for an account with the Learning Zone (the orange tab in the main menu) which is packed full of informative bite-sized modules. Additionally, for a more personal take, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter to the Newly Diagnosed

Good luck with finding your way through the maze of options, and developing a toolkit of strategies and approaches that work for you 🙂
