Hi Everyone. I have just been told I'm prediabetic. My main worry is all of the need to talk about, measure and regulate eating and weight. I'm in recovery from Bulimia and am worried it's going to trigger a relapse. Does anyone else here have a similar history and can offer some tips?

Just to say welcome to the forum, I have no experience of your situation but just to say there is no need to panic and the diagnosis of prediabetic is just a heads up that your body is struggling with carbohydrates and just some modest changes will likely be sufficient. It is better to know at this point than not and find yourself way into a Type 2 diagnosis where it is much harder.
Keep it simple, reduce sugary and starchy foods, have 1 rather than 2, meat, fish, eggs, cheese, dairy, veg and salads are all good foods, it just depends on what you like. No need to eat foods you don't like or make big changes.

@Leadinglights, could I suggest a tiny amendment to your reply above. After have 1 rather than 2 add: have 1 rather than 2 potatoes, slices of bread, biscuits, spoons of pasta and/or rice .... etc. But meat, fish, eggs .... are all good foods, it just depends .....

If you’re not on particular meds like insulin, you don’t need to measure @lesley24601 Just look at the proportions of your meals, and reduce the amount of carbs, filling the space with green veg or salad. You can also look at substituting lower carb versions of carby foods, eg have cauliflower rice instead of normal rice, or one of the pastas made from pulses (still watch your portion).

You don’t have to weigh yourself. Leave that to your nurse and ask not to be told if it upsets you or triggers you. With some small sustained changes, you should see improvements.
 
I was a full blown diabetic, I just cut out high carb foods and then I wasn't any more, just at the top end of normal.
I did some experiments with timing and weighing, but that's just me being careful as my HbA1c did start off at 91. As you are starting off far lower it ought to be a simpler process, with any luck.

Did you attend a specialist service to support you with your recovery? It is possible they may have access to someone who has experience of both diabetes and disordered eating?

As others have said, hopefully some fairly modest adjustments and steering of your regular menu could make a big difference?
