I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 weeks ago, so looking forward to hearing your stories, and any tips and advice you have.
Welcome to the forum, for some it comes as a surprise to get a diabetes diagnosis but it can sometimes be a relief as it can explain symptoms but now you know you can take some action to address the problem.
It is going to be important to make some lifestyle changes the thing that will have most impact is your diet, however what may be suitable will depend on what your HbA1C is and whether you have been prescribed any medication.
If you are either going to try diet alone or metformin plus diet then a low carb approach is one many find successful.
Have a look at this link for some ideas, menu plans and recipes https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Low carb is suggested as being no more than 130g per day as a good starting point, it is not NO carbs.
How did your diagnosis come about? Had you been feeling ill for some time and went to get it checked? Or did it come out of the blue during another checkup?
Do you have anyone in your close family with diabetes?
Do you know the result of your hbA1c check that gave you the diagnosis, it’ll be a number above 47mmol/mol.
Have a look around, and ask any questions you have. We’re a friendly bunch, and everyone is just finding their way through the maze of options 🙂
