Hi everyone
I just joined because my husband is recently new to insulin having lived with diabetes type 2 for approx 18 years. So far so good but still a little way to go to achieve a lower HbA1

Welcome @debian 🙂 The insulin should help your husband get his HbA1C lower. What insulin(s) does he take (full name inc any letters or numbers after the name)?

It’s Abasaglar injections

Ah, ok. Abasaglar is a slow-acting basal/background insulin. If he’s recently started it, his dose will be gradually adjusted (for safety). If the Abasaglar isn’t enough by itself, there’s the option of adding a fast/bolus/meal insulin too 🙂

Yes that’s right. This was explained by the Diabetic nurse who had been most helpful. Thank you

Great to have a helpful nurse 🙂 I’m sure your husband will gradually start to see an improvement in his numbers.

Yes he has already but they need to keep reducing so he’s increasing his dosage slightly soon so we wait

Welcome to the forum @debian

Glad you have joined us.

Good to hear your husband’s nurse taking things gradually. Hopefully his levels will begin to gradually coast downwards with the additional insulin.

Let us know how things go for you both 🙂
