Hello there, I am 58 yrs old and have T1 Diabetes since 1998. I am on insulin 1x24hrs and other when i eat. I am hoping someone can help with my problem which is early morning low sugars ( around 3am), this occurs no matter what. i have tried reducing my 24hr which I take at approx 7pm but that appears to make my blood sugars rise during the day, also i have tried to have a biscuit before bed but to no avail.

Welcome @tate 🙂 What basal insulin do you take? You might well find it easier to swap to a twice daily one. You can then take less at night to avoid the lows and as much as you need in the morning to cover the day.

Welcome to the forum @tate

I had some occasional problems with overnight lows on injections. I was on Lantus at the time, which has a little bump in activity at about 5hrs after injection.

What helped in my case was to move my long-acting injection to breakfast time. That way, by the time overnight came around, my dose was beginning to fade a little.
