Hello everyone
My name is Denise I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in July so still learning about it. I've changed my diet and have lost 2 stone, haven't had my second AC1 blood test yet comes back ok as I've had a good Christmas lol.
Would be nice to here from anyone.
Love Denise

Hi Denise. I’m new to this too and have been working to get my Hba1c down. Slowly trying to accept that it’s a change for life but in desperate to stay out of the zone and off any meds. Then Christmas scuppered things!

Hello I'm not taking any Meds and I really don't want to either, I've just changed my diet when I have my next blood test it's working!

I really hope you get a good result when you have your next test. I’ve just had my second test and felt like I was working blind and just praying it was working. I don’t have a glucose meter so also have no idea how different foods affect me. But I guess on the whole it’s common sense and determination.

I test my blood sugar about once or twice a week this morning it was 5.8 Which I think is ok lol. I'm eat just chicken but of course turkey this week and lot's of veggies, it's hard but I'm sure I will get used to it.

The reason many people self fund a home blood glucose monitor is so they do feel in control and don't just rely on chance that the foods they are eating are ok to keep their blood glucose levels where they need to be. Testing before you eat and after 2 hours will indicate if your meal is ok if you keep the increase to no more than 2-3mmol/l or as levels come down then no more that 8-8.5mmol/l post meal.
Inexpensive monitors can be bought on line, Amazon have a test kit the GlucoNavii with 100 strips and 100 lancets for £22.95 which is cracking value.

Thanks for the info, I’ll take a look at that on Amazon! Would be useful to know what I can and can’t tolerate.

Have a look at some of the ideas in this link it might give you some more options for meals https://www.freshwell.co.uk/
You may quickly get fed up unless you have some variety, and your approach has to become a new way of eating for the long term.
5.8 as a fasting reading is good, within the 4-7mmol/l range people aim for.

Yes I took the blood test before breakfast but never took it 2 hours after I'm going to do that tomorrow, thank you for telling me, hope it's going to be in the range its supposed to be. And I will look on that website for more recipes thank you.
