Type 2
hello, i am a newly diagnosed diabetes type 2 and need to lower my Hb ac1

Hi and welcome.

I am sure we will be able to help you to achieve that. Do you know what your HbA1c result is and have you been given any medication for it or are you being given the opportunity to reduce it through lifestyle changes first?

Have you been given any dietary advice?

Are you mobile and able to walk?

Do you have much/any weight to lose?

Sorry if it seems a bit like 20 questions, but the more information you can give us about your particular situation the better we can tailor our advice to your situation.

Welcome to the forum @Dapphl

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis :(

We have lots of members who have successfully managed to reduce their HbA1c (some from quite high starting points!) using a number of different strategies.

One popular approach on the forum is to reduce overall carbohydrate intake (total carbohydrate, not just ’of which sugars’) to help the metabolism process food more easily. Lower carb approaches are often thought to start at a total intake of 130g per day or less.

Members here will be happy to share their experiences and meal ideas if that’s something you want to try?
