Newbie to the forum!
Type 1 for over 30 years, recently acquired a Libre device..
My control has always been ‘ok’, but the constant monitoring gives ( probably too much) insight that would probably never be noticed otherwise!
3 weeks in, and in an attempt to lose some of the middle aged spread (lol) have reduced carb intake, so am now adjusting insulin to suit!
As we all know no two days are the same and keeping within a tight tolerance is not always easy!
It’s interesting to see how time from insulin to meal, type of food, time between meals all play a part in this, far more than I knew!
My only thing is to not get obsessed with the numbers..!!
 
Welcome @Leevolvo1000 🙂 I’ve had Type 1 a similar amount of time. I did have a Libre but now have a Dexcom. I too was obsessed with the numbers to start with, but I now see it as a really useful tool. I love the alerts, the arrows and the ability to see what’s happening overnight, etc.

Yes the first experiences with sensors can be a real eye opener can’t they! I remember being fascinated watching the wobbles happen in real time, and seeing what had been going on ‘between the dots’.

As you suggest though, it’s important to just view it as information to help you decide what to do next, not any kind of judgement of effort. Don’t go chasing unnaturally flat lines! Glucose levels in ‘nonnys’ go up and down too :D

Yes, the data from Libre can be amazing and addictive and hugely beneficial but also sometimes overwhelming. I found that having a break from Libre for a few days or a week every now and then helped me to regain perspective and appreciate it's good points whilst relieving the mental overload and in some cases resentment I felt, as it recorded everything good and particularly bad and sometimes I felt like it was "spying" on me and judging me. It is a long time since I felt like that now and needed a break, but it is an option and a good strategy if you get to that situation. The first day and night without it made me feel pretty vulnerable but it is important to remember that people survived for decades without even having BG meters and going back to basics and learning to listen to your body is not necessarily a bad thing in the short term.
