Hi all I wonder if anyone has the same problem as me & what they have done about it. I have been a diabetic for about 15yrs.I have been on several different diabetic tablets but now have been put on insulin. at first the injection wasn't to bad just abit uncomfortable but now it feels very uncomfortable. I am on 40mg. The nurse has aggree to me putting it in 2 injections but tonight it was even worse. I do feel a baby but wonder if is because I have alot of illnesses & Fibromyalgia. If anyone elsse has this problem please let me know. Thanks alot. Regards mayflie52

Hi Mayflie52, are you rotating your injection sites each time?

Hi Mayflie52, welcome to the forum 🙂 What kind of insulin are you using? Lantus can sting a little when you inject it. Also, what size needles are you using? I use 6mm, but you can get 5mm or 8mm - some people find that the different sizes work better for them. Where are you injecting? It helps to have a bit of fat that you can inject into, and you should try and rotate your sites, particularly at first as it can be a little sore to start with. After a while it should become less painful.

Hi Mayflie52, welcome to the forum.

Is it possible that you may be injecting into a mustle? That may be why it is more uncomfortable.

Hi and welcome mayflie sorry i can help but wanted to welcome you to the forum.

Thank you for your replies

Thanks for your help. I have been rotating my injection site & i'm using 6mm needles. I'm not sure what insulin that I'm using but its a Levemir pen. I'm injecting 40mg in my bottom or stomach. It is still uncomfortable. I know my skin is very sensitive because of all my other illnesses. If this is the cause Prehaps someone else might have a solution.Regards mayflie52

Rubbing the injection site with an ice cube can help to numb it a little before the injection. Hopefully, the pain will largely disappear soon - I very rarely feel anything other than a slight discomfort for an instant, and don't bruise any more, so hope this happens for you too🙂 Roll on the days of oral insulin!

If its just painful on injecting you could ask the drs for a cream called EMLA.....its the cream they use on kids before blood tests etc but you'd have to check with them if you could use for this reason.....using ice cubes as suggested is also a good thing.
