thats how i feel today, fed up of this whole experience, my doc kindly told me that after looking after a stubborn mother in law for years, thanks to her and the stress she has given me am type 2, being over weight he as i said didnt help, but the weight came with the bordom of my life, am not usually a misery old guts, am quite cheerful, but thanks to the menopause giving me its pennyworth, well here i am. i have lost 5 stones, tho a stone has creeped back on, not sure how, so need to get this off and the rest, have been trolling through the threads and thought i would at last say hello.

toffee😱 slightly mad but 🙂

Welcome toffee...........you have come to the right place.............you will feel much more up beat in no time..................:D

Hi Toffee, welcome to the forum 🙂 No-one knows what causes diabetes, so try not to blame your poor MIL too much! 😉 There's a lot to learn but the thing to do is take things one step at a time and not to overwhelm yourself. You've already done a great job with losing all that weight - this will have improved your sensitivity to insulin considerably and will help to reduce your blood sugar levels - lower levels mean better moods too, so you should start feeling less grumpy as time goes on! If you don't have it, I'd recommend getting a copy of Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - highly recommended by the people here!

Are you on any medication for your diabetes? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, nothing is considered 'silly'! 🙂

edit: have a look in our Weight Loss section - lots of support there from like-minded people!

thank you for yr replies no am not medicated, just fell like i got a straight jacket on most of the time, farming coping with this and the old dear, well its nice to have someone to chat too xx

Hi toffee welcome to the forum, keep going theres definelty no easy plan when it comes to diabetes gotta roll with the punches and keep going, now your here you will soon find a great bunch of mates, and best of all we all know what each other go through better then anyone else...

First of all, welcome to the forum. 🙂

I've found that with my weight loss, I don't have to be quite so strict with myself carb-wise. Mind you, I don't let myself go gung-ho either because I don't want to revert back to the way I was.

Do you know what your blood glucose levels are after meals? I've found that information to have been extremely useful in determining my diet and what I can occasionally 'get away with'!

Andy
