Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi My Names Maxine and I was diagnoised with Diabetes Type 2 in November 2020 and im feeling really nervous about it as I've not had any appointments since my diagnosis in November 2020 the only thing I've been to regarding my diabetes is a eye screening but as for anything or any other appointments I've had nothing I'm just wondering if anyone else as had any other appointments as I needs a foot check but not sure how to go about it

Hi, had an eye screening and a check-up with the diabetes nurse at the surgery. Haven't had a foot check not sure that I really need one to be honest. My own view is that if you can mange the condition yourself, then brilliant until things normalise. However, I think that I'm lucky as I have a blood glucose and blood pressure monitor. So I guess that I can do my own diagnoses in an (unprofessional) way. I didn't pay for the blood glucose monitor, but did for my blood pressure monitor. I suspect that about £50 would allow you to equip yourself with these....

Hi @Maxine Hutchinson , welcome to the forum.
Do you have any problems with your feet, if not I wouldn’t worry too much, you’ll probably find that on your next face to face visit with your nurse she will check your feet.
However if you do have a problem or are worried about something then donget in touch with her now.

Our Foot care.
Wash feet daily
Check them daily including the soles and between the toes. If you notice a problem , then get it checked out asap.
Moisturise feet daily to keep skin in good nick but not between the toes as it will create a bad environment which things like athletes foot loves.
If you normally have pedicures make sure your tell them you have diabetes.

Corvid 19 has caused a lot of our usual check ups to be delayed or no longer face to face unless absolutely necessary, hopefully soon things will start to improve.
