All the information is very confusing. I only found out by going to the doctors for something completly unrelated, when the doctor suggested i have two fasting blood test. They came back at 7.4 and 8, i have no idea what that means... Help x

Hi Kerry, welcome to the forum 🙂 Don't panic! There is so much information around that it can all be very overwhelming at the start, but don't worry, you don't have to know everything from Day 1. The good news is that, now you are diagnosed you will be able to make the changes needed to start managing your diabetes well. There are lots of friendly and experienced people here that will be happy to help out with any questions you may have, so don't be afraid to ask anything that might be confusing or worrying you.

I'd recommend getting a copy of : Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - many of our members have found it really helps them understand what it all means and how to approach getting things under control. There's also lots of good readin in our Useful links thread.

Diabetes is scary, and serious, but if you work a little at it then there is no reason you shouldn't be able to have a full, happy and healthy life - many people find that the diet and lifestyle changes they adopt makes them healthier than they might otherwise have been without the incentive. We'd all rather not have it, but we do so we have to work together and help each other in any way we can.

I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

Welcome to the forums Kerry 🙂

Hi Kerry and a warm welcome to the forum.

We all have to start somewhere Kerry. It's good that you are seeking out information to help you make the right decisions. 🙂

Hi Kerry
I'd recommend getting a copy of : Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker. I've just been on holiday to Benidorm for a week and took this book with me, it's full of great advise and tips and I'm now less confused than when I first found out I was type 2 on the 22nd April just before Easter sunday.
Asking questions is the only way we will get our heads round what's happening to us at the moment. It's good to know you are not alone and that the symtoms I am finding others have also.
