Hi my blood sugar is going up in the evening and then up again first thing in the morning I have just retested before breakfast and it has now gone down from 11.2 to 7.8 .

Welcome to the forum
Would you like to tell us a bit more about you situation, how long have you been diagnosed, what your Hba1C is and how do you manage your condition, diet and or medication as that may make a difference as to what you might expect to happen to your blood glucose level during the day or day to day. If you are on insulin this may be a different story.
Everybody's level will go up and down due to a number of factors. Primarily what you eat and to some extent the amount of exercise and how hydrated you are.
The evening rise is most likely from what you have eaten for your meal. When are you testing?
The morning rise could be what is referred to as Foot on the Floor phenomenon which is the liver releasing glucose to give people the energy for the day which occurs when people get up and potter about. People test in the morning before they even get out of bed as that may be more of a true reflection.
Morning readings are often the last to come down but will gradually trend down when your meal increases are reduced.

Welcome to the forum @Glad1

Good to hear you have access to a BG meter to be able to monitor your levels. they can be a huge help, but also, as you’ve found they can also raise some tricky questions which can feel a little confusing at times.

Try not to take these numbers personally. they aren’t a reflection of your ability, or the amount of effort you are putting in. They are just information, that sometimes need to be unpicked or pondered over.

Are you taking any medications?
