Hi, welcome to the club eh. Newly diagnosed in last 2 weeks, still slightly shocked, slightly confused, slightly concerned, loads of questions too.

Hiya keithg. Sorry to hear bout your diagnosis, but a warm welcome to the club. I'm sure you'll find support and answers to your questions here.🙂

Hello Keith, welcome to the forum. Well done for finding us so quickly - it took me years!
Loads of useful advice here, just ask whatever you like. There's also plenty of useful reading in the stickies at the top of the Newbies section.

The most important lesson is that ALL carbohydrates are converted to glucose, some quicker than others.

Have you been given any drugs to help you control your diabetes? Or like many of us, sent away to try diet and exercise without any advice?

Hi Keith and welcome to the forum 🙂

Although it must be a massive shock, please be reassured that there's plenty you can do to stay fit and healthy. Have you been prescribed any medications or are you going to control it with diet and exercise? Plenty of advice on here - just ask away 🙂

Hello Keith, welcome to the forum. I bet you do have questions, don't be afraid to ask them I'm sure someone here will have experience of whatever the issue is. In the mean time, have a look in our Links and Recommended Books sections, there's a lot of useful info in there. 'Type 2 Diabetes, the First Year' is one, you can get it from Amazon, and Jennifer's notes may also have data you can use.

Thanks for the warm welcome and reassurance guys. At first it was going to be exercise and diet, but the Doc changed his mind and decided on meds. I am on Metformin 500mg Got to say really pleased to find this site, 🙂 Just starting to learn how to reassess food: i.e. what were good foods (Carbs) are suddenly bad foods, and so on.

Welcome to the forum KeithG 🙂
