Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have been diagnosed with type2 for about a year now and just got it under control with some wholesale life changes and trying different meds. However I have days where my sugar levels % - mmols get really high. Hoping to get some good tips and advice from people who share the same issue.

Many people control their BG levels with diet.
Would you like to give a typical day's menu to see if we can offer any advice?

Your glucose levels will depend on the amount of carbohydrates that you are eating, the amount of insulin that your body is able to make and how your body uses that insulin. If you are happy to do so you could tell us which meds you are currently using to help you manage youths T2, and also how many carbs you are eating at a typical meal.

It may be that the times when you go unusually high are after some specific carbs which make you spike. I was surprised when I found what porridge oats did to my levels and soon took that off the list for me and switched to a lower carb option. We are all different and gradually find what suits each of us.

Well done on the positive changes you have already made, and for bringing your diabetes into line.

Can you remember your last HbA1c level? And it sounds like you check your own BGs at home? If so what sorts of levels are you seeing?

Many members here have found this test-review-adjust framework a very useful way of examining particular meals and sources of carb and then making tweaks and changes to gradually improve your post-meal levels
