Hi I’m a newbie here but certainly not to Type 1 which I have been for 43 years! Still no expert at controlling it all. I had kidney failure in 1996 when I was 27 and was lucky to only be on dialysis for 7 months before a received a transplant. All went well until 2018 when I was 49 and had a heart attack and had to have a stent fitted. My kidney has been in the decline since then and it is functioning at 11% at the moment and I’m back on the transplant list but I’ve been very lucky as my transplant has lasted as long as my original kidneys and it allowed me to have a baby in 2006. Hope you are all well x

Welcome to the forum @Nickyhen

Amazing to hear about your kidney transplant, and how well that lasted for you, and the gift of a baby it enabled you to have.

Hope your number comes up on the list for your next kidney. Is it a daunting prospectall these years further on? Or are you quite relaxed about it having been through it before?

Hi and welcome @Nickyhen glad you’ve joined us 🙂

Good to hear your kidney transplant lasted a good while and you were able to have a baby.

I hope things are going as well as possible for you whilst on the transplant list.

Are you using MDI or pump? Any cgm
Libre/Dexcom/Medtronic? So much tech compared to 43 years back!

....and here I was feeling sorry for my very healthy newly diagnosed, Type 1, 19 year old son! What a wonderful inspiration your post has been to give me a much needed jolt to be ever thankful in this moment. Thank you for that and sending lots of positive wishes to get you to the top of that list.
