Relationship to Diabetes

hi folks

Newbie to this site but I hope to be able to contribute and to (maybe) get some answers. Maternal Grandmother & Mother both had T2 diabetes, younger sister has been T1 since she was 3 y.o. I've been T2 for the last 16 years.

cheers
Jonsi

Hi Jonsi, welcome to the forum, looks like you have quite a family heritage at play there! How have things been for you? Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Hi Northerner ...just posted to the General Forum regarding Meds (I take loads of meds for Diabetes, BP, cholesterol and other stuff).Got given Atorvastatin a while ago ...they made me have to crawl up to bed at night. Awful things. Couldn't function while I was on 'em. Not on 'em now thank heavens. Things haven't been great control wise in recent months. Seemed to begin an upward trend on the graph about 12 months ago. Admittedly I would eat a biscuit here and there and the occasional KitKat, but I wasn't ever caning it with alcohol or food.

Hi Jonsi and welcome to the forum.

Hi Jonsi, I'm in the same boat as you, both parents had type 2 as well as a few of their siblings. I've had T2 for 13 years, which was progressively getting worse (following doctor's orders) until I discovered the LCHF lifestyle. I reversed the diabetes to a normal range within a couple of months and now I'm off all meds. Cholesterol is the next big issue with research now coming out showing that low cholesterol is generally worse than high(ish) cholesterol. Clear steer of statins for now. Good luck with the diet, I had to drop my carbs to no more 20gms a day to improve my BS.

Hi Jonsi and welcome. 🙂 That's some family history! 😛

Thanks for all the welcomes peeps...

Bloden ...I'm from God's own Island, up north and left a bit ...you?
