Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was diagnosed with type 2 some 15 years ago and have kept myself reasonably, fit and healthy and managed my diabetes until the last 12 months when I have struggled to maintain my physical activities due to a serious hip problem and then Coronavirus seemed to prevent my regaular check ups. I am now joining the forum in the hope of being able to turn to other sufferers for support

Welcome to the forum Wizard, from a fellow T2.

Hi @Welsh Wizard and welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm a fellow type 2 but much more recently diagnosed than you, so you'll have more experience of managing it than me! I suspect you're not the only one who has been adversely affected by covid and the lack of face to face appointments and check ups. I was fortunate in that I was diagnosed in the early part of lockdown, so as a newbie to the disease I was given regular appointments including blood tests and eye checks. My son, who was diagnosed around 3 years ago had all his annual checks postponed for months.

I hope your hip problems have been sorted out. It's hard when you're used to exercise and have to stop.

Anyway, welcome aboard 🙂

Thanks for the welcome. It's good to know that this is an active site/forum. I think that's what kept me away from it in the past but hopefully I will be discussing issues with fellow sufferers on a regular basis from here on in.

Welcome to the forum @Welsh Wizard

Great to have you with us 🙂

It can be a real help to have a friendly community of folks to put your questions to, so feel free to ask away with anything and you will get a variety of suggestions, tips and ideas for most things - diabetes can be frustratingly individual, but there are a number of common threads and experiences, so it’s good to have a variety of thoughts to consider.

Sorry to hear about your dicky hip, that sounds very painful :(

And yes... the extra challenges and complexities of the pandemic have really thrown a spanner in the works o_O

Well bloomin' 'eck - the dicky hip probably caused an increase in your BG so of course you need help whenever any other medical thing happens to the body, just as all people with diabetes do when something else is up.
