Thought it’s about time I joined a forum. Thinking about using a pump.
Don’t like the thought.
Would it be better than injecting 4 times a day?

Hi @Samure and welcome to the forum - there are many members on here who use a Pump or a Hybrid Closed Loop system who should be able to advise better than me - availability of pumps & HCL do depend on your local health board with their own criteria as well as the NICE recommendations though

Welcome @Samure
If you don't like the thought of a pump, why are you thinking about using it?
Do you have specific problems with injecting that will be solved with a pump?
Has a pump been offered to you by your clinic?

I have been using a pump (without HCL) for 8 years ands it has really helped my diabetes management during exercise but I understand a pump may not be for everyone.
If you don't want a pump, I don't think you can be forced to have one.

@Samure welcome to the forum. I joined last year when diagnosed with type 2. I spent time reading answers before posting. I had phoned Diabetes UK first advice before joining the forum as I felt completely alone when diagnosed in July.
You will find kindness and practical information. You can keep asking questions.

Thanks for kind words. I remember being diagnosed and alone. Very scary, but you are not alone now!

Hi @Samure and welcome to the Forum 🙂 . How long have you've been injecting? I have around 5 jabs a day - 2 long acting and 3 fast acting. At my last consultant visit I asked about having a pump as I thought it would make life easier but was told it's not available in my area. I could be considered however if my control is extremely poor and has been for some time - don't want to go down that route!

There’s no better or best @Samure - just what’s best for you as an individual 🙂 Don’t be persuaded to try something you don’t want just because it’s newer.

The main benefits of pumps are the ability to fine-tune basal doses and to give more exact boluses eg 2.25 units.
