Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi everyone, I've decided after 24 years of living with Type 1 to finally join a diabetes forum. I haven't known many people with diabetes on a personal level and considered that signing up here was going to be the most helpful next step in managing my own mental wellbeing living with this pain of a condition. So..a big hi from me and a shout out to everyone here!

Welcome to the forum DJ.

Welcome to the forum @dj303 , it is great to have your experience on here.

If you would like to it would be good to know how you manage your T1.
MDI or pump? Libre? CGM?

It is so useful being able to link up with others and tap into the knowledge available, as well drawing on support of those that ‘get it’.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi and welcome from me too.

I have only been diagnosed 20 months but the forum has been invaluable in helping me find my way forward and learning so much about the condition and how best to manage it and find out about new tech etc as well as keeping me sane when I have struggled to accept the vagaries of fickle BG levels. I hope you find the forum equally beneficial and look forward to hearing more about how you manage your condition and hopefully learn some tips from your experience too.

I think many of us T1s will recognise themselves in what you’ve said.

I’d only met a couple of people with T1 up until about 10 years ago and neither of their diabetes seemed to behave anything like mine.

But once I’d begun connecting to other people with diabetes online I suddenly found a tribe who were all facing the same struggles, challenges and frustrations every day. And while some people’s experiece is very different I have common ground with everyone I’ve met online. And I now count some of those early contacts as close personal friends.

Hi there and thank you for your warm welcome So I've been pumping for about 9 years, omnipod for about 2 years which has been a god send after having my daughter (she took too much interest in the tubing!) I used libre in pregnancy then managed to secure a permanent prescription a year ago. I can honestly say flash testing has been the best thing since starting the pump!

Thank you everyone it's really helpful to actually hear from people that have an idea of what it takes to live with diabetes. I'm hoping to use this forum to be able to learn from others and have a support network to lean on when it gets just that little bit tricky!
